YOUTUBE SERIES
A six-episode, video game-inspired series designed to help students “hack” paying for college where they’re already asking questions – YouTube. I was responsible for all 2D effects UI/FUI screens and 3D sections of this award-winning series.
— PROJECT INFO
2D/3D UI/FUI Animations, Game Design
This piece was inspired by classic video games like Zelda and Halo, making applications and deadlines feel like quests and time trials. Designed the modern and universal “Player One” to resemble today’s students so they could see themselves in the character. With an epic custom soundtrack and narration from actor and award-winning video game VO artist Troy Baker — every element was crafted to make the story as immersive as possible. A combination of Maya, Blender, Unreal Engine, Animate & After Effects brought the animation to life.
PROJECT BREAKDOWN
We were inspired by classic video games like Zelda and Halo, and FUIs had to feel part of the story so every detail was designed to help further the immersive nature of the piece.
LOOK DEV
Without question, my favorite part of the design process is look development; constant research, and learning…
STARTING TO HAVE FUN
Starting to put everything together and seeing how everything plays with each other.
SET-UP
Each episode of the series has its unique story so the UIs were built to be part of a system that is flexible and accommodates quick changes.
